MISSION/DESCRIPTION: This agency provides educational, mental and physical health and well-being, informational and developmental programs to Asian-Americans and other ethnic groups who are low-income, underserved, isolated, and vulnerable throughout the San Bernardino and Riverside Counties (Inland Empire). The Center has a unique variety of direct services programs to handle various unmet needs.

PROGRAM: INTERPRETING & TRANSLATION SERVICES
Description: Our interpreters/translators will perform all work with the standard of care and diligence normally provided by interpreters/translators. Interpreters/translators will accurately interpret and translate all procedures, conversations and documents presented from English into the target language, or from the target language into English. In any given session, he/she may use simultaneous, consecutive or sight translating techniques while interpreting and translating oral or written material.

PROGRAM: ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER (API) COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHW)
Description: The Community Health Worker Program focuses on the prevention portion of the Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) component of MHSA. Services are culturally, linguistically, and community-driven to improve access to and reduce the stigma of mental health services by education and promoting behavioral health prevention and wellness, as well as community resources under contract with the County of San Bernardino, Department of Behavioral Health.

PROGRAM: ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
Description: This program focuses on proficiency in reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking and comprehension. The staff is multilingual with different cultural backgrounds, each possessing different language skills. The instructor and staff also provide referrals to clients who are interested in applying for naturalization. All classes are for beginners and advance students. Free childcare is available onsite for ESL students while attending class.

PROGRAM: TELECOMMUNICATIONS EDUCATION & ASSISTANCE IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES
Description:  This program offers free help in any language for anyone who has questions or complaints about their home phone or cell phone bills.  Anyone who does not agree with the charges on their bill or who needs help understanding charges on their bill should contact our office.  Our multilingual staff can help save time and money by calling the phone companies for clients.

Language: Vietnamese, Spanish, Khmer, Indonesian, Laotian, Korean, Tagalog, and various others.

Description: This program offers free health screenings for hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and vision problems, along with health education classes for chronic disease prevention. Lunch, onsite childcare, and translators for several Asian languages are available.
